Ed Chiu is an Australia-based independent sports photographer who specializes in fencing photography. Bringing nearly 30 years of professional experience in commercial photography, he took up fencing (Epee and Sabre) in 2022, which naturally led him behind the lens to capture the sport he loves.
In a short period, Ed has become the only photographer in Australia capable of covering all genders, weapons, age groups, and levels, including extensive exposure to para-fencing. His exceptional work achieved global recognition in 2023 when he was named one of the top 40 finalists in the Martial Arts category at the prestigious World Sports Photography Awards.
Moving beyond traditional action shots, Ed masterfully combines high-end sports photography with digital marketing strategies to increase the sport's visibility. Through his online platform, "Touchpoint," he provides a deeply engaging space for fencers, coaches, and referees to share their personal journeys, growth, and challenges with a global audience.
